Dr. Wayne Decker, long-time friend and colleague, is the executive director of Flame Tree Initiative based in Malawi. The Flame Tree Initiative partners with African universities to foster scalable, socially minded businesses that accelerate regional change.  They believe that training, mentoring and launching development enterprises – social entrepreneurships that confront global development challenges – is a potent way to contribute to the new, innovative era in Africa.

Check out the “Coder Dojo” in Salinas (out of the Steinbeck Innovation Foundation and Hartnell College). This is a great idea to get young kids (8-17) to learn how to create apps and websites, giving them inspiration for pathways into a career.
